I challenge @iJustine to grow out and donate her hair!

Earlier today GaryVee Challenged Kevin Rose to shave his head. If Kevin did it Gary said he would donate a couple $100 to charity. I think this is a great idea! I wanted to start something similar with the girls.

So I came up with the idea of growing out my hair and donating it to Locks of Love. I challenge @iJustine to do the same. So everyone hit her up on twitter and encourage her to join in with me and then challenge someone else.

Dr. Horrible

For some of you this is old news. You have already watched it and are in awe of the greatness that can come out of a writers strike.

This post is not for you. This is for all of my friends and blog readers that have yet to watch this amazing piece of work. Don't go Pirate the thing either. Forget those Torrents. Seriously get on iTunes and buy this one. IT'S WORTH IT! Not to mention they have all 3 Acts for like $3.99 or something. Not a bad deal.

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is one of the best things that could ever happen to the Internet. Not only was it well written, and filmed, and the MUSIC ALONE! I mean come on!!! Ok sorry... It also brings up a huge point.

The future of TV.

That's right! Dr. horrible was released only on the Internet and Exclusively on iTunes. Supposedly it is in the works for it to be released on DVD with Special Features etc (I will be buying this) which rocks. This wasn't just an amazing mini-series. This was Joss Whedon giving Hollywood a kick in the rear! Who needs Hollywood when you have the Internet.

Sure we already have Hulu and sites like that where we can watch TV content. But this is someone who has done shows for TV and decided to take a stand (you know Joss Whedon.. Trust me you do! Buffy, Firefly, Serenity! Ringing a bell yet?).

So what are Broadcasting companies going to do? This is something they should really start thinking about. I think we will be seeing more and more releases like this on iTunes and the Internet.

Again, if you haven't watched it, YOU NEED TO! Click on the banner and it will take you to the website where you can download it and read more about it.

kthxbi

New Facebook Released Today...

Facebook went under the knife today and when it came to it wasn't a pleasant site. The new layout has no real separation or consistency as you switch from tab to tab. It is a mess! I immediately started looking around for help. There were little tags to tell me about the new site but they weren't that helpful. I finally looked up and saw a switch to old Facebook button and breathed a sigh of relief! My friends profiles may drive me crazy with their application disorganization but the new layout was so bad I couldn't navigate. The top bar was a joke and what happened to my easy access side bar? Facebook you disappointed me greatly!!!!!

Here are some issues with the new layout:
1. The Wall-When you click on the wall tab your wall does not come up. Instead all that shows up is your mini-feed. I looked every where for my wall, it seems to have gone missing! ***EDIT*** If you click Posts by others (yeah it's tiny) It will let you see what people are posting on your wall. That is ridiculous!

2. There is no consistency what so ever. Switching from tab to tab is like leaving and going to a different page. The great thing about the old layout was it's consistency. There is none now.

3.Special Applications?- Certain applications were put under the "wall" tab. How come? Why aren't they under the Box tab?

4. Why are the boxes so wide? What is that about? Unnecessary!

If you want to see your profile in the new layout all you have to do is go to http://www.new.facebook.com

What are your thoughts on the new Facebook? Hate it? Love it? Could care less?

It's A Twitter Ghost!

Lately I have been getting a ton of followers that are Twitter Spammers. It is really annoying. They follow you then spam you with DM's about their "awesome" website. They follow Thousands of people and have multiple accounts. I'm not a fan of this and I really hope Twitter gets this under control.

Twitter has been acting crazy lately but this was really interesting. I just got an e-mail from twitter saying I had a new follower. I was not excited because I was pretty sure it was going to be another Twitter spammer of doom. I was wrong.

Here is the e-mail:

This is what happened when I clicked the link:

So, now I'm not only getting Twitter spammed I'm being followed by Ghost Twitterers? Creepy!

Blast From The Past!

This is a mid-week post I figured I would do. I'll post about the previous post this Monday. So keep those replies coming in.

Last night I was having trouble sleeping. I was up just kind of in a daze and decided to take a blast to the past. I decided to look up some of my old screen names and try to find some old blogs and sites that I have all over the web. It was really interesting what pulled up. I had totally forgotten about my AOL blog. Not to mention the 30 geocities sites I created (That doesn't even count another account I had deleted).

This is proof things on the Internet do not just disappear. It was cool to go back and read old posts. How I have evolved as a Blogger since the late 90's. Not to mention I have a better eye when it comes to web-design (Some of those geocities sites made me want to throw up they were so busy).

Are you a Blogger? or maybe you were a Geocities site making machine? Are there pages on the Internet from your past that make you cringe?

Tell me about how you have evolved as a Blogger, or how you have seen other Bloggers evolve over time. (That means leave a comment *Hint Hint*)

Keep It Real!

Where do you get your News?

Where do you get your news? Is it from a Newspaper, a TV station, an online Newspaper, A Blog, the Radio, or a Podcast? Today, there are so many different sources to get information of current events.

I was curious as to how you (yes you!) get your news. Do you use the Internet or a different source? Do you use different sources for different subjects?

Leave a comment or post on the discussion on my ning site http://www.iellie.ning.com

I talk all the time but tell me what you think! That is the great part about the Internet. A blog is no longer a one way channel. It's a conversation!

When I get some feedback I have a post I want to make and I want to use your Feedback! So COMMENT! POST! Go nuts!

Social Networking Break Down?

Are all these social Networks causing you to break down and want to give up? Having problems keeping up with the latest "Hap" on the Internet?

Stop. Inhale... Exhale... OK here it goes.

Here is the secret: You don't have to join every social network on the Internet! (Did I just hear a sigh of relief?)

With the Internet you are always going to be behind when it comes to the next big thing. Sure you could hire someone, but most likely with the state of the economy, that is out of the question. You could always hire an Intern, but even the youth today aren't always as tech savvy as you think.

I don't think I could even name all the social networking sites available on the web. I don't know anyone that could (besides maybe Google but that isn't a person). Many of the Social Networking sites have tried to make it easier for you to post your content through applications, which is great, but risky in the security department. Your information is just bouncing around. Then there are the sites that let you update your status but not much else. This doesn't help either.

So what do you do?
-Pick, one, or two, or heck even three of these sites that really work for you.
-If you have to, split up who updates what. Most sites allow multiple admins to login and update information. Take advantage of it!!
-Keep it simple short and sweet. Already this post is to long in my book but, I had a lot to say.
-Say enough to update your audience and don't bore them or go over board.
-Use paragraphs, Bullets, Media (pictures, videos, etc.) to get your point across.

The main sites I recommend anyone trying out are:
http://www.ning.com (Create your own social Network)
http://www.twitter.com (send and recieve updates via sms, IM, and more)
http://www.facebook.com (Social Networking site that is popular easy to use and "Classier than Myspace according to some)
http://www.myspace.com (Has the most people out of any other social network but has many security issues.)
http://www.blogger.com (A great way to create a quick and easy blog that allows you to have multiple admins to update it. That is what I use for my site)

Remember don't just throw your computer out the window and give up. Take the time and re-group. Things move fast now a days. Try and keep up but don't ever give up.

Keep it Real!

To Close For Comfort?

Today ustream.tv got a makeover (which hopefully will solve the problems with the crashing many people have been experiencing).

Although the site looks nice I can't help but notice the extreme similarity to another popular live streaming site. Yes, that would be justin.tv.

For a little over a year now these two sites have been in a streaming battle! Each have taken ideas from the other to improve their sites (not to mention streamers). Both basically have the same features now. So whats differentiating them from each other and other streaming sites?

You tell me! Feed Back is a must on this story!
Take a look at the screen shots for yourself.
